We are seeking a Plant Controller to support the Central Life Sciences business unit.  The ideal candidate will ensure the timely and accurate reporting of manufacturing results, set annual unit standard costs, lead planning and compliance initiatives, and help leverage overall operating effectiveness at our two plants in Dallas, TX and Council Bluffs, IA.   This individual will help drive strategic objectives through strong business support, reporting, and analysis.  This individual will be based in our Dallas, TX plant and will supervise one Cost Accountant.  The Plant Controller will report to the Vice President, Finance & Accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads monthly plant closing process, analysis of financial results, and site planning efforts.
  • Maintains financial control and valuation of company inventories and manufacturing costs.
  • Works with Operations team to develop understanding of raw material, direct labor and overhead cost drivers and ensures proper reporting of all manufacturing variances.
  • Leads annual standard costing process and maintains unit accuracy in SAP.  Provides ongoing product cost estimates, working with Sales, Marketing, and Development teams.
  • Partners with Operations team to develop and implement ongoing productivity improvement and margin enhancement strategies.  Monitors and tracks identified opportunities. 
  • Leads internal and external audit efforts; evaluates internal controls, maintains SOX compliance.  
  • Controls and maintains fixed asset inventory and annual site audits.
  • Presents operating results to executive and business management teams.
  • Implements staff training & development activities in conjunction with company Performance Management Process (PMP).
  • Identifies and manages special projects, as needed.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CMA, CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years Management Accounting experience in discrete manufacturing including MPS, MRP, Work Orders, Item Masters and Standard Costs. Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working in a Team-based environment.
  • Advanced Excel a must; SAP preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong initiative, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Operates with discretion when dealing with confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Ability to travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa on a regular basis and travel to conduct inventory at subcontractor locations.
