Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-GNY) is an anti-poverty organization that seeks to end homelessness in the New York metropolitan area by the year 2050. We focus our continuum of care to address the most prevalent causes of homelessness: (1) lack of affordable housing; (2) unmet health needs, including but not limited to mental health and substance use; and (3) lack of jobs that create wealth. In each of these areas we strive to incorporate strategies that address issues of racial equity. We know that our clients are confronting longstanding barriers to accessing quality housing, healthcare, and employment. Now in our second century of serving those in need, VOA-GNY understands what it takes to heal families and individuals who are in crisis and have experienced trauma. We operate and provide services in emergency shelters, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing for close to 11,000 men, women and children through 65 programs located in New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester annually. We are one of the largest providers of services to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Greater New York area, serving survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, and others who have behavioral health or substance use needs. Many of VOA-Greater New York’s programs are nationally recognized and meet the rigorous standards of accrediting bodies CARF, COA and the NAEYC.

Position: Supervisor of Financial Analysis and Reporting (FIN260)
The Supervisor of Financial Analysis and Reporting is responsible for facilitating the preparation and review of all budgets, actual, and forecast reporting and processes. S/he prepares analysis of current or proposed operations and provides timely, concise recommendations to improve results and performance. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, with at least five years of increasing not-for-profit experience in a multi-governmental contract arena. Accounting major preferred; CPA/MBA a plus. Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and conceptual skills and related supervisory experience required. Knowledge and ability to use an in-house PC-based accounting system in a network environment, including ability to create, run, and verify reports. Expertise with Excel/Word is essential. Capable of taking independent action and taking initiative to recommend and implement required improvements. This position requires the ability to successfully manage multiple projects under deadlines. Supervisory Role:
This position does have supervisory responsibilities. Principal Responsibilities: The below enumerated principal responsibilities are inclusive of both program specific and firm-wide related administration, as applicable. Identify trends impacting the bottom line, analyze financial results/reports, and make recommendations for operational improvements based on sound analytical procedures. Review program budgets, budget to actual variances, projections, and explanations. Prepare journal entries and allocation adjustments to ensure accurate reporting and balanced budgets. Review and approve Finance purchases. Regularly review salary, fringe and OTPS allocations and ensure proper approved methodologies are utilized. Meet with program management to review financial results, projections, and recommendations to optimize contract funding. Have a full understanding of all funder requirements, guidelines, cost manuals and policies to ensure accounting, auditing and funder standards are followed and all funder, fiscal, and audit requests are resolved. Preparation of accurate CFR reports, supporting schedules and analytics. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff. Perform other related duties as required. Expected Results of Principal Responsibilities:
Ability to evaluate and develop financial reporting models to support financial results, trends, planning, and forecasting. Budgets and actuals results are accurately prepared, tracked, and variances are readily explained. General ledger contains accurate information in conformity to best practices. Appropriate purchase of quality products or services which align with funder, agency and best practice guidelines are correctly codded and adequately supported. Ensures allocation methodologies conform to accepted best practice standards. Program management is able to make well informed business decisions based on accurate assumptions and projections. In compliance with all governmental, funder, agency, and best practice standards. External financial reporting is completed timely and accurately. Staff are well trained and supervised. All other related tasks are completed on time and accurately. Work Environment:
