Assistant Controller

Express Employment Professionals of Champaign is a professional staffing company dedicated to helping local businesses find great people. We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing internal team at Express Employment of Champaign.

Responsibilities:

Some typical tasks performed may include a combination of the following:

  • Achieve and maintain defined VMS AR portfolio goals, targets and metrics
  • Analyze VMS account pay patterns and address variances from contractual payment days
  • Become main point of contact and VMS subject matter expert for back-office functions
  • Conduct uploads of invoice or billing details as appropriate within assigned VMS accounts
  • Establish professional business relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Escalate VMS reconciliation issues, challenges or where assistance is required by division and/or market leader
  • Handle special projects; meet deliverables, milestones and due dates
  • Manage and document account and task activities
  • Prepare VMS AR status reports and meet with front and back office leadership to review; discuss strategic plans to bring accounts current
  • Proactively and expeditiously address VMS reconciliation issues, disputes, fees, discounts, AR variances, debit and credit memos, cash applications and/or any other items causing payment delays
  • Assist in any other tasks or duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a background of VMS account management experience. Staffing industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with billing adjustments, accounts receivable, account reconciliations and thorough understand of vendor management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Well developed organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with solid follow up skills
  • Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • Comfortable with creating reports, analyzing data and making recommendations

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; one Saturday per month, 8:00am-12:00pm


Job Requirements:
  • Prepare monthly management financial statements
  • Cost accounting and general accounting staff
  • Publish timely monthly consolidated financial statements
  • Prepare financial statements and footnotes to financial statements
  • Prepare monthly close journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports and financial statements
  • Analyze financial information to prepare financial statements
  • Supervising all general accounting functions and accounting staff
  • Report to the financial controller
  • Distribute financial statements including balance sheet
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations
  • Produce monthly financial reporting package
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package
  • Prepare all monthly and annual financial statements
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Direct and manage accounting functions including general ledger, journal entries, preparing financial statements, accounts payable, membership accounting and reconciliations
  • Conduct financial analysis and accounting responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly financial analysis reports
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting
  • Managing all accounting activities including fixed asset accounting, general ledger accounting, cash management, tax filing
